selections from various projects.

stone and tile
Fifteen years extensive experience as a subcontractor in high-end stone and tile installation. Managed every aspect of my business, overseeing crews and projects from inception to sign-off, working closely with contractors, designers, architects, and clients, while optimizing time and resources. Supervised and trained crew from entry level on up to a master level. The character of my contracts demanded a keen eye for quality, accuracy, detail, functionality, and design; and included work ranging from custom showers and bathtubs to elaborate kitchens and entryways. Met the needs of eccentric, unorthodox, or historically allusive themes by creating and fabricating beautiful tiles designed specifically to meet the particular and visions for each project. This work included creating color schemes, casting tile bodies, and specialized finishes. Projects included working with architects such as Winka Dubbeldam.

design
Worked closely with clients to achieve conceptually sound and practical high-end residential interiors, within the applicable budget constraints. Designs continually challenged generic conceptions of high-end, emphasizing personality, warmth, and inventiveness, within an exclusive and functional framework.
Delivered a hands-on, deep, working knowledge of actual construction, building processes and possibilities to all projects I was involved in. My ability to see beyond the drawings, and draw on my concrete, problem solving experience translated into designs that were eminently buildable and functional.

fixtures and furniture
Produced work reveling in a non-academicized, organic approach to the post-modern play of old and new, relying on first-hand experience of a wide array of materials, a fascination and feeling for salvage items, unlikely solutions, and collage into a visually sensual, refined, and witty romantic industrial aesthetic.

applied artist / decorative and specialist painter
Created and realized works ranging from ornamental to representational, generating subtle effects with color, light and texture in both two and three-dimensions.

Contracts have included: restoration of period d├ęcor; reconstructing and duplicating surfaces such as relief, gypsum moldings, cement, wood, stone and steel using numerous techniques and treatments, including faux finishes, glazes, and patinas. Many projects required familiarity and versatility with a wide variety of materials, even extemporized and invented materials or techniques. Clientele range from high-end private residences to commercial, including furniture, interiors and exteriors of several of the L’Occitane en Provence shops.

muralist
Designed and painted murals in San Francisco and New York for both commercial and private residences, among them the old Savoy Tivoli. Applications included a variety of media including egg-tempera, wax-crayon, and collage.
